I have rewatched your DragonBall Dissection several times and I don’t always agree with it, it is awesome. Thank you for taking the time to go through the series and breaking it down with so much detail.

Not to mention they actually got Lami's actress to shoot an original shot of her specifically summoning the Putty Patrol against the Power Rangers as Scorpina. That's pretty big, they had to actually recall an actor - not a costume - from Sentai to speak Power Rangers dialogue for the first time.

You explained it perfectly, I agree with almost all of that! At first I wasn't too happy with Minako's portrayal because she was mostly unlikable. I still think it's a pity that she's never really a part of the team. However, her character fits perfectly into this version of Sailor Moon. I understand her intentions better now, and she's really interesting. Minako kind of takes the role of the Outer Senshi (taking the mission too seriously, acting as if she's better than the others, staying away from the others....). The ending is so heartbreaking, I also tear up every time. The Shitennou are amazing! I love that they all have different goals and personalities. It's almost cute how Jadeite is so loyal to Beryl even when he dies, and almost heartbreaking how much Nephrite tries to get attention, but nobody takes him seriously. Zoisite has a cool concept and is very likeable, and Kunzite had one of the best actors of the show. What a presence this man had (rest in peace).

Oh my god, yes, I definitely agree that there's a Venus problem. I don't really have a problem with her role, I think it's interesting that there's a Guardian who has been fighting before the others awoke. However, once she joins the team, her being Sailor V isn't really relevant anymore. After a while it doesn't matter that she has more experience or initially knew more than the others. Her drastic character change from season 2 on seems a little weird, as she was supposed to be the reliable, mature one (though I know she basically gets her Sailor V manga personality back). It seems like the writers didn't know what to do with her, so they rewrote the character. But then there's the problem that she's now very similar to Usagi. There are still some differences though. Tbh, I'm not the biggest fan of anime-Minako in the later seasons. She can be quite funny, but she also does some very stupid things and sometimes seems kind of selfish. (It's not that I dislike her though.) And yeah, it's pretty stupid that the anime didn't even try to use the "Sailor V is the princess" plot. I'll probably write another comment about live action Minako when I watched that part of the video.

My favorite part of these episodes: when Yellow throws the Skeleton's head into the fiery crevice and what they both say between the two versions. Trini: "See you later, bone head!" Boi: *"Go to hell!"*

The irony of MMPR is that it basically regresses Zyuranger back into a typical sentai series. Even though Zyuranger doesn't have the cultural significance of being the first of its kind in Japan, it still has its place in the franchise as a real game-changer during its time. Up until then, basically every season of Super Sentai was roughly the same: science fiction-based, the rangers were modern earthlings for the most part, the robots were basic vehicles, and their tech was either human or alien-made. Zyuranger upped the ante by taking all the concepts and introducing a fantasy element to it all, making the rangers prehistoric warriors and all of their robots are really gods. So it was really unique for Super Sentai. And Mighty Morphin Power Rangers? It takes Zyurangers concepts and reverts them back to how a typical sentai season would function, with the powers being alien technology, the rangers being basic people, and the robots just being dinosaur-shaped robots. Of course that's all probably a carry-over from Saban's original intention to adapt Bioman, but I just think its funny how they stripped everything that made Zyuranger different and still made a successful series because the concept as a whole was so new in America.

I always thought that the present-timeline Trunks' brash character was due to not only the sense of life-threatening danger but also the strong presence of Vegeta. The main thing that Future Trunks lacked. He's more Bulma by default.

Just cut the last half of the last episode off, and there's your realistic ending. After Sailormoon destroys the world, everything is bullshit. Of course. But come on, man: we have a precedent. We all knew -and expected- everybody to come back to life after the last battle because of the anime. But I think you are missing the point, why nobody has ever mentioned this? The core message was transmitted perfectly: emotions are a power than can be managed properly and be good, or let be and be bad. That's what's important.

Ya know Zack seems to have more in common with Dan than Goushi and Billy has more in common with Goushi than Dan. In hindsight they really should’ve made Billy the Black Ranger and Zack the Blue Ranger. Not only would it better match the sentai footage but would likely avoid the race issues they recived. Sure you’d still have the only Asian actor playing the yellow ranger but I think it was doing BOTH that got them heat, after all I don’t recall anybody complaining when they had an African actor play the Black Ranger in Jungle Fury

There is no "legendary" Super Saiyan. Its just a myth. Like how someone can claim to be more "American" than someone else, its all about their own interpretation. There's a legend of a SSJ and it just so happens Saiyans have all these weird transformations they can do. They just *think* its a Super Saiyan because this legend exists. Goku's probably BS'ing Frieza when he gives his speech and Paragus just wants street cred by calling Broly's berserk form the *real* Legend, but none of them can know for sure.

Nevermind Raditz not training his tail, if he didn’t know what Piccolo was upon meeting him when even Nappa was able to clock him almost instantly, no wonder Raditz got no respect from either of him or Vegeta aside from every other quality he demonstrated.

Very similarly to a purple-haired Saiyan, I have come from the future! Not with warnings of an android menace, but a slight (albeit opinionated) defense for the characters' choosing to let the androids arrive, and back pedaling on that decision after fighting Number 19 and 20. I agree that Roshi's very first lesson contradicts the main cast's decision. It is selfish, and it is stupid. But that is the point, I feel. Although it was definitely grafted onto him, since fighting Vegeta Goku's saiyan heritage and desire to grow stronger has begun to override some of his decisions. Piccolo and Tenshinhan both have experience with alien threats now and may feel more qualified to deal with new enemies, which I feel could have enbrazened them to want the challenge. And Vegeta, is Vegeta 😂. But again, I agree, all of those paths of thought are stupid and selfish. But I do still believe that is the point. Because when the Androids do arrive, and Goku immediately falls to his disease and nearly dies, everything begins to fall apart. Their training amounted to nothing and without Goku they have no other defense than Vegeta whose alliance is dubious at best. And from that point, despite there efforts to backpedal, they CANT. Because of their selfish decisions, everything is now set in motion, culminating in a villain who is both the product of and is motivated by the main casts' greatest flaw: a desire to fight and seek challenge above ALL else. Thats my read of the Cell Saga, the main characters having to fix the mess they made due to their selfishness and blind desire for challenge. I know i gleamed a lot on to my reasoning, but i thought it was interesting to discuss! Love your videos and keep up the great work ❤️

At best, AT BEST I think the Shadow Dragons arc could also be knocked out in 4-5 parts, maybe just 3 if you’re cheeky about it. Mainly because the Shadow Dragons are all basically the exact same villain up until we get to the Fire and Ice twins.

I think what’s going on is something that DB simply never did much of, highly serialized storytelling. Sort of a soap opera structure and one that rose up in comics in the 80s and 90s before dying off for more trade story arch based structure. (Also shows up in Arthurian lore in the middle ages and other chivlaric romances were its called interlacing) Here there is often an A plot and then a B plot and maybe a C plot. But rather than the B plot always being there to comment on or support the A plot its is instead set up to become the new A plot. Then C plot might become the new B plot and so on. Its not always that clean. Sometimes the B plot is just there to comment on the A plot but the C plot will become the new A plot. Or the C plot will take over as the A plot but the B plot will keep humming along and then become the A plot after the C plot is wrapped up. Or the B plot will stay a B plot but run though several A plots. The result is where one story begins and the other ends, is messy. Example, not a super famous one but one I’m familiar with. Marv Wolfman’s run in Green Lantern in the early 80s. The first three issues are about Hal need to overcome Dr Polaris. But also before we even hit there we learn something is going wrong with Ferris Aircraft likely sabotage. A new character has something he’s hiding and in short order Hal’s love internist, Carol, has her parents kidnapped and then later she is as well. As the Dr Polaris stuff goes on Ferris Aircraft suffers even more. After Dr Polaris is defeated Hal starts looking for Carol, only to discover the new character, Bruce Gordon is Eclipso and starts to fight him. Only to get pulled into the future for two issues where he stops an invasion of Earth in two different time periods. Sent back to the present he spends two issues fighting Eclipso during which Carol’s situation is learned more about and Ferris Aircraft is bombed, and a congressman starts trying to get info on GL and who he might really be. Finally Hal is able to track down Carol and her parents and save them. But it turns out the kidnapper has a vendetta with the Ferris family that he has now passed to his sons, including the congress man. And it goes on form there. We can argue the overall story only ends when Carol is recused, since most plot lines opened up when Wolfman first joined are wrapped up by that point. But not all, the sabotage and Ferris financial issues will continue. Or we could say there was a bunch of smaller stories connected by ongoing subplots, but how are we to take the Eclipso stuff? It starts, stops for Hal’s time travel adventures and then picks up. So is it all one story? But the Eclipso stuff has no real effect on his adventures in the futures so those feel like one story that interrupts a different story. Neat story lines break down under highly serialized storytelling really. Which can be seen as messy, poorly made or just a complicated structure.

I'd say it's a set up arc that commits the bare minimum to setting things up. The minimum here being cut aways to cracking dragon balls, which don't relate to the actual Super 17 plot, other than the fact they need to be used after all the chaos. That's the only thing that connects it, so I'd say it's a standalone arc with a transition to the next one. It's not like when the plot starts focusing on Baby, but the dark star dragon balls are still being collected, then they get brought back to Dende, then used by Baby, then the arc ends with everyone evacuating earth as a consequence. The dragon balls in that case are very relevant in the middle of the story and not totally in the background. Let's say the dragon balls started cracking and then suddenly hell opens up as a result of that, and maybe during all the action of this arc we cut to the dragon balls getting gathered and characters question what's happening. Maybe Bulma's running tests on them or something. If at least something was being done with them like that, then I'd find it much more believable as the start of the Shadow Dragon Saga. Also unrelated to all that, I'm glad Android 18 gets to do at least SOMETHING in the arc about her brother. Since it's GT I had zero faith she'd even show up at all lol...
